In art class on Tuesday we set up a pop up gallery. You may ask what is a pop up gallery?Well it’s when you set up art work but for only a short amount of time. The art gallery was made so we could show off our zoom books to the rest of our class and even to a few teachers.Along with that we got lots of pumpkin spice cookies. It felt like an early halloween. We thought it was awesome to see what other people’s zoom books looked like.
The Warren School had some serious pre-Halloween fun on Friday, October 27th the day of the Trick or Trot and Monster Bash! Check out a few pictures of the Halloween parade! And check back later for a video of the fifth and sixth grade “Flash mob”!

On Tuesday Jane’s class skyped with a class from Illinois about The Wild Robot a book we are reading in library. Almost all of us went up to the computer and told our name and either answered a question or asked a question about The Wild Robot. I thought it was really fun to see what the other classes thought about the book. One thing that is really cool is that a lot of people in state and out of state are reading the same book as us. Also when we are finished with the book we get to skype them again and talk more about the book.
More information about this student driven fundraiser to come!
We learned today that, if we could have a Super Power lots of kids would want SUPER SPEED!! Others wanted INVISIBILITY, the Power to HEAL, the Power to FLY, the Power to BREATHE UNDER WATER, the Power to CLONE themselves, and several wanted SUPER STRENGTH!
We also learned that some favorite restaurants are MAD TACO, FIT 2 B Thai’d, China Buffet, and Five Guys!
We had a nice opportunity Friday to share our Extended Name tags and learn little things about eachother! Please check out the name tags on display above our cubbies.
Finally in our own building! Yeah! It is great to be back and we are wasting no time getting into the full swing of things! We began our “Double E” time this week! Double E stands for Engineers and Explorers. During this time we have half of our Upper Unit students working with Heidi R. and Julie as they begin the Explorers unit (Social Studies). The other half of the students are working with Elizabeth and me as we begin our Engineers unit (Science). After about 5 weeks, we will switch groups so everyone will have a chance to be an Engineer and an Explorer! Here are a few pics of our engineers hard at work designing a foot orthosis.
Don’t forget to send me “selfies” of you reading! I’ll post them as I receive them! Happy Reading!
Best wishes 6th graders!
Here are some great pics from our last few days!
Have a wonderful summer and we’ll see you in August!
They brought in their raw materials – no prepping, no measuring, just raw materials. They had 10 minutes to construct their Trojan Horse that met the following criteria: must be hollow, must be between 9-12″ tall, must be between 9-12″ long, and must be free standing. Did their polis succeed? Were they able to come together and construct a Trojan Horse that met this criteria? Check out our final horses which will be on display the night of Spring Concert!!
